Your ancestors were brilliant survivors. If not, you wouldn’t be here!
They lived through wars, famine, persecution, economic hardship, and countless challenges we can only imagine. To navigate those experiences, they developed rules that helped them stay safe, connected, and alive.
Over time, those rules wove themselves into the DNA of your people, passed from one generation to the next until they became so familiar that nobody questioned them. Nobody even noticed they were there.
I recently explored my own ancestral field inside the Akashic Records. I opened the Records, and followed a timeline back into an ancient time. The image of a king, known as the Sun God was shown to me. His sister, my ancestor, lay at his feet, hiding herself as she lent him her magic. The rule was clear, “Do not outshine the golden child.
I felt a wave of recognition. For her, it was clear. He was King/God and outshining him would most likely lead to an early death.
For me, I knew this story in relation to my youngest brother. Don’t get me wrong, I think my brother is awesome, but I’ve long been aware of the family rule that I shouldn’t outshine him. Once, showing some of my art work to my mom, she responded by saying, “This is so weird, your brother is the artist, not you.” As if there could only be one. As if my brother painted more than houses.
And I have worked to release this belief. So, finding it now allowed me to go deeper. To pluck the strands of it from my DNA. To erase the word from my soul. To rewrite the code to something that would serve me.
“My success creates more possibility for myself and all those whose lives I touch. It is safe for me to shine brightly. My light creates more connection and belonging for everyone.”
Since then, I’ve allowed myself to take up more space. I’ve been open about my feelings. I’ve shared more of my gifts. Heck, I even started a Substack publication so I can do more writing!
I’ve received more abundance, more opportunities, and more joy than that little girl could have imagined.
