This is the final episode in our special Goddess series exploring the many faces of the Divine She, and we are ending with Kali, one of the fiercest expressions of the Divine Feminine.

I’ll admit, Kali intimidated me at first. She is wild. Powerful. Unapologetic. She carries a sword, wears a necklace of severed heads, and doesn’t exactly fit our picture of the soft, gentle feminine.

But the deeper Kathleen Joan and I went into her story, the more I fell in love with her.

Because Kali’s destruction is not destruction for the sake of destruction. There is fierce love underneath it. She cuts away what has become false, limiting, or complete. She reminds us that sometimes the Divine Feminine whispers, and sometimes She needs to roar.

My co-host for this series is Kathleen Joan, a priestess of Brigid devoted to the resurrection of the Divine Feminine in today’s world, especially for women with Christian ancestry.

Kathleen spent more than 15 years in ministry and holds a dual Master’s degree in theology and ministry. Today, she brings that deep understanding of the Christian tradition into her work helping women reclaim the wild, sacred Feminine through Goddess teachings, channeling, energy healing, circles, and retreats.

In this conversation, we explore Kali as both destroyer and Mother, and what she can teach us about releasing what has run its course, reclaiming our wildness, and making space for what wants to emerge next.

Episode Highlights

00:27 — Meeting Kali, the Fierce Divine Mother

Kali is an active and powerful goddess within the Hindu tradition. Unlike hidden or forgotten feminine figures, she is seen as wild, visible, fierce, and fully present.

02:25 — Kali as Destroyer of Illusions

Kali’s destruction is reframed as an act of love. She removes the illusions, beliefs, and patterns that no longer serve us so we can grow into a deeper awareness of who we truly are.

05:46 — Deconstruction Instead of Destruction

Kali is not simply tearing everything down. She takes systems and structures apart so the useful pieces can be rebuilt in ways that better serve humanity, including in personal life, business, relationships, and society.

07:44 — Reclaiming Feminine Wildness

Kali’s dark, untamed energy invites women to reconnect with their wildness. Her presence challenges the expectation that women must always be polite, controlled, agreeable, or easy for others to accept.

09:19 — Transforming the Inner Demons

The demons in Kali’s story represent patterns such as competition, envy, jealousy, and other forces that can multiply when left unexamined. Rather than suppressing these emotions, Kali teaches us to move through them and transform their energy into our next level of service.

11:43 — Breaking the Pattern of Disconnection

Women are often taught to disconnect from themselves, one another, and the divine in order to remain accepted within patriarchal communities. Kali offers protection and solidarity while inviting women to show up as their full, powerful selves.

15:12 — Letting Kali Lead Through Change

Sometimes major life changes are not carefully planned but arrive as a powerful breakdown or calling. Kali can reveal what needs to be released, helping us move through uncertainty and rebuild with greater truth and alignment.

18:04 — Anger, Protection, and Fierce Compassion

Kali makes space for anger, rage, boundaries, and protective action, especially in response to cruelty and injustice. Her fierce compassion is not about softening everything; it is about confronting harm, protecting what is vulnerable, and refusing to shrink.
